$#

$# As you can see the quality of the drinking water is mediocre
at best.

$ This dog had given birth a week ago and was not eating.
The owners said they didn't have hope for her when there is no money for medical attention for their own children.
ASPCA, what's that? It's unheard of in these remote areas in under developed countries. The people here
do their best to help the animals around them.

$# A simple scrape is a big deal to these people. If infection
sets in, it could take on a life of its own. All of this due to the lack of a couple dollars to purchase an antiseptic
and a bandage.

$# Behind this little boy is the familys' kitchen,
it consists of an old metal chair with wood found in the dump, and two pots. When I arrived they were down to 1 can
of food. Upon my return the next day, they had used some of our gift money to purchase beans, eggs, cereal, and rice.
B.T.W., this little boy has an infection on his pinkie toe that is going untreated.

This is in fact someones home... Not too far from the beautiful beaches and resorts in Los Cabos, Mexico.

$# This mom has a house made out of cardboard, plastic sheets,
and 2x4s. She says that the drug addicts came and stole the 2X4s right off of the house. They had a dog to protect
them, but the drug addicts killed him.

$# This little girl is looking at her 2 week old baby sister.
Her mom, a single mother, is staying with a family in a room with dirt floors, as there is no place to stay. It is people
in these type of situations that make it hard for me to understand why there is such poverty when others have so much.

This is an area in which families set up their homes. They have to pick up and move 2 times a year due to the rain
flooding this area. Though it is illegal for them to set up their homes here, they have no other choice. Unable
to provide for them, the government turns a blind eye. There are laws prohibiting large organizations from helping these
people, leaving them without hope.

#$ This is a family with 3 children and this is the
chicken coop that sustains this family...

#$ The previous evening, the hungry guard dog ate the chicken.
I was fortunate to arrive in time to help out so that they could buy new chicken.

At the market purchasing oil, rice, beans, sugar, and pet food. I took a Peruvian friend with me to negotiate the
deal so that my gringa accent wouldn't up the sale price! :=)
